Sabra

Last year, I missed the Booty ride as I was VERY pregnant in July. I’m now a proud first-time momma with a beautiful healthy little girl, Luciana. She has helped us realize how lucky we are for our health. We also hope and pray she stays healthy. I hope that she doesn’t inherit the family’s cancer history. It runs throughout.
I ride for my Grandmother Marion, who still believes we don’t discuss such personal things. I ride for my Great-Aunt Marge, who is an inspiration to me, one very tough old broad. I ride for Grandmother Shirley, and Great-Grandma Madge, who decades ago lost their breasts to cancer. I ride for Great-Grandma Gregory who died of cancer before I was born. I ride for “Gramp” Gregory, who died with emphysema when a semi truck took his one good lung. I ride for my mother, who still struggles to quit a habit that surprisingly has not given her cancer yet. I ride for my husband’s older relatives that didn’t get to see him become a father. I ride for my daughter, may she see something in me worthy of admiring, as I support those who have to go through this illness.
If you live in the area, or feel like a road-trip, come out and join us. On behalf of my fellow Barbizonians, thank you for caring!
