Barbizon Charlotte’s Booty Ride

So some of us have been watching the Tour to get inspiration for the Booty. There were times at the Booty last year that I thought, “This must be what it is like at the Tour.” Now granted I was most likely referring to all of the stretchy pants and clacky shoes, but there are also all the times you here “on your left!” If you haven’t been watching the Tour you can check out what you are missing with either the Tour de France site or Versus. On Versus you can watch all of the crashes, yeah I know nascar for the snooty. If you do watch the tour you will applicate the Phil Liggett fan page. He is one of the sports casters for the Tour and being a word smith, bike passionate, and British he becomes very quotable. It is all a lot of fun and will get you in the mood for Team Barbizon at the Booty.

As of this morning we have received 102 donations that add up to nearly $10,000. That is pretty amazing, considering that we raised just under $2000 last year. I do have to say that Paul and Esthere are a big reason that we have done so well. They worked really hard to secure our sponsors. They also invited Jason Tipa to ride with us and he has proven to be our best individual fund raiser. There are still three weeks until the event so hopefully we will keep adding to this number of donations. Remember, all money donated goes to the Lance Armstrong foundation and local cancer centers here in Charlotte. I was surprised to read that much of this money will go to early detection and early treatment programs. These are the programs that could be the difference between life and death!

Well, we are a month out from the big ride. Everybody is doing a great job of fund raising. We are in second place behind the Harris Teeter guy, with Bank of America coming up on us fast in third. As Paul mentioned to me, BOA has easily double if not triple the riders than we have and BOA matches the donations that they raise, we are still ahead of them. I don’t know how long that will last but, I am really proud of the money that we have raised so far. We do still have a few corporate sponsors that haven’t paid up yet so we have a bit more to add. I am hoping that all of the employees of Barbizon will donate to the cause. If each one gave just $20 it would add up to over $3000. I don’t know if we are going to reach our team goal of $20,000, but I do know that we have raised 4 times what we did last year. That ain’t to shabby.
